Our journey begins at the charming hut of Dr. Klementa Juga in Lepena village. Over the course of 2 to 3 hours, we will ascend approximately 750 meters, immersing ourselves in the captivating beauty of the surrounding landscape. The trail, while not overly challenging, offers a satisfying level of fitness difficulty at 2 out of 5, making it suitable for families with children aged 10 and above.
Most of the trail winds through serene woodlands, creating a tranquil atmosphere as we make our way towards the lake. As we approach our destination, the path gradually opens up, revealing panoramic vistas that will leave you in awe. It is advisable to bring sunscreen, as the final 30 minutes of the hike offer ample exposure to the sun.
Once we reach the lake, we’ll take a well-deserved break and indulge in a refreshing snack, surrounded by the pristine beauty of nature. Our journey kicks off as we gather at the meeting point in Bovec. In only five minutes driving we’ll arrive to the magnificent Kluže fortress, where our hike begins.
We embark on a captivating 2.5-hour trek to reach the historical 1313 lookout. A site that once served as an artillery position during the First World War now offers breathtaking panoramic views of the picturesque valley. Standing in awe as we take in the remarkable remains that bear witness to the battles fought here. As we delve into the history of this extraordinary location, we’ll deepen our understanding of the valley’s significance.
